A Going alternative for travelers in India
Going (formerly Scott's Cheap Flights) is one of the best-known flight-deal alert services in the world. If you have read about it and wondered whether it works for trips starting in India, this page answers that honestly, and shows where Fareletter fits. Facts about Going are from their own website and help center as of October 2026.
What Going offers
- Flight-deal alerts and mistake-fare notifications, with a free tier and paid memberships
- Price tracking for trips you specify, plus curated deal alerts
- Booking directly with the airline - Going is not a booking platform
- A large member base and strong press reputation in the US
The catch for India
Going's own help center says it currently sends deals departing from airports in the 50 US states, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas only, and that international departure locations are not supported at this time (it runs a waitlist for a possible future global expansion). In other words: if your trips start at Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, Going does not cover your departure airports. Its alerts are excellent for US-based travelers; they are simply not built for India-origin fares.
What Fareletter does instead
Fareletter exists for exactly the travelers Going does not cover. It watches international round-trip fares out of five Indian metros - Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Chennai - and sends one short weekly email with the fares that were genuinely worth checking that week. Every fare is re-checked on the actual booking page (dates, total price, baggage, stops) before it goes in the letter, and each listing shows when it was last checked. You book directly with the airline or booking site; we never sell tickets or take booking fees.
The honest part
Going is a mature, well-reviewed service - if you are US-based, it is probably the better product today. Fareletter is in early preview: the sample fares on our homepage are labelled illustrative examples, and the first real issue goes out only after every fare in it has been verified at the booking page. We would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
